Airport Known Consignor
We carry out Known Consignor checks for you, fast and cost effectively. In the UK, the Department for Transport (DfT) is responsible for implementing aviation security legislation. The DfT issues directions to air carriers and regulated agents, instructing them on the circumstances in which they can accept cargo as secure. As a known consignor you are expected to comply with the written guidelines described in Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules in the field of civil aviation security and you may be audited against them. Compliance with the guidelines is a requirement of known consignor status and includes the background checking of staff. We carry out these background checks on your employees in accordance with the required criteria on your behalf. Once approved, Known Consignors are permitted to ship cargo as SPX from source.
Screening Checks for Airport Known Consignor
To be approved as a Known Consignor, organisations and companies need to make an application to the DfT for the locations for which Known Consignor status is required. The staff at each location will be subject to an inspection and you must have carried out the following checks to the satisfaction of the auditors.
- Five year history checks with employment, self employment, educational and benefits references
- Revenue and customs records to help cover gaps in the career history
- Character references to cover gaps over 28 days
- Declarations or Basic Disclosure (whichever is appropriate for the role) of criminal record checks
- Proof of ID
- Proof of address
- Right to Work
