Important Update: DBS Price Increase Effective 2nd December 2024
We wanted to share an important update about upcoming changes to DBS costs that will affect all Responsible and Umbrella Bodies, including Checkback.co.uk. From Monday, 2nd December 2024, the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is implementing a DBS price increase across all types of DBS checks, as well as the DBS Update Service. While we understand this might not be welcome news, we’re here to explain the changes and what they mean for you and why it doesn’t represent huge price increases at Checkback.co.uk
New DBS Check Prices
From 2nd December 2024, the updated DBS costs will be as follows:
Basic DBS Check:
- Current price: £18
- New price: £21.50
- Increase: £3.50
Standard DBS Check:
- Current price: £18
- New price: £21.50
- Increase: £3.50
Enhanced DBS Check:
- Current price: £38
- New price: £49.50
- Increase: £11.50
DBS Update Service:
- Current price: £13
- New price: £16

These changes are set by the Disclosure & Barring Service and reflect adjustments in their pricing structure. While the increase is beyond our control, we remain committed to providing our services with no changes to our administration fees.
What Do These Changes Mean for You?
DBS price increase for Employers
If you’re managing the recruitment process and vetting candidates, it’s important to factor in these new DBS check prices when planning your budget. Whether you need Basic, Standard, or Enhanced DBS checks, the updated fees will apply to all applications made on or after 2nd December 2024.
DBS price increase for Individuals
If you’re applying for a DBS check yourself or using the DBS Update Service, the cost increase will directly affect your application or renewal fees. It’s a good idea to renew any subscriptions before the new pricing comes into effect if possible.
DBS price increase for Organisations Using Checkback.co.uk
Our service remains unchanged—no hidden fees, no confusing terms, just the reliable support you’re used to. The only adjustment is the new DBS check prices passed on directly from the DBS.
Why is there a DBS price increase?
The DBS has introduced these price changes to reflect operational costs and maintain the quality of their services. These adjustments help ensure the safeguarding system continues to meet its critical role in protecting vulnerable groups and maintaining public trust in recruitment processes.
